Shrila Prabhupada wanted to offer an alternative not only to the children of his own devotees, but to anyone who could appreciate the need to save people from repeated birth and death.By training them from children devotional service to the supreme Lord, srila Prabhupada began his Gurukula schools.
In our Krishna consciousness movement, the Gurukula plays an extremely important part in our activities, because right from childhood, the boys and girls are instructed about Krishna consciousness. Thus they become steady within the core of their hearts, and there is little possibility that they will become conquered by the modes of material nature when they are older

National Curriculum Break Lunchtime
National Curriculum Children are supervised at all times In case of lateness a note must be produced by the child from their parents to the academic teacher Morning Programme Parents should ensure that their children arrive at school by 7.00 am. The morning programme is supervised by two teachers, The ashram teachers will ensure that the children are in the classrooms by 9am School Day School starts at 9:00 am and ends at 3:10 for all classes except on swimming days when the children will come back around 3:30 pm.Please be prompt and punctual in collecting your child as lateness can cause distress in the children who are left behind .At the end of school the children should be collected from their classes School Clothing BOYS: Navy trousers, white shirt, royal blue pullover/sweatshirt v,with Manor school crest, white socks. No jeans or red jumpers; OR dhoti. In addition the boy's head should be buzzed or shaved and all the children should have tilak. Crests can be purchased from the gurukula class teacher or secretary. GIRLS: Navy skirt or pinafore, white blouse, royal blue pullover/sweatshirt with Manor school crest. Blue summer gingham dress; OR devotional dress in blue & white prints. In addition the girls must have their hair tied back and if possible plaited. No makeup or nail polish. All the girls should have tilak. PE.- One pair of navy shorts or navy track suit trousers, I white top, I pair of black plimsolls, I cloth bag to keep these in. SWIMMING: For swimming a towel and swimming costume are required. All clothes should be clearly marked with child's name The uniform is compulsory and is in force from September 2000. If the child comes to school without a uniform a polite reminder will be sent home. 3
